‘Hungry to help’ is an opportunity for restaurants, cafés and take-aways to do what they do best… feed people. For a number of years, the township people of the Cape Flats in South Africa have benefitted from the distribution of simple, nutritious hot meals on a weekly basis.
Once signed-up, eateries are encouraged to make a regular monthly contribution through the scheme to support the Goal50 food programme. These donations go towards providing staple ingredients for food preparation.
Dining places that sign-up fro the scheme will receive a window sticker to indicate that the establishment is associated and contributing to the charity. They also receive a batch of cards to be given to diners. These briefly explain the initiative and encourage the diner to make a contribution to the scheme should they wish to.
