Kit Xchange
Kit Xchange takes unwanted and unused sports kit and equipment to sell or send to South Africa to support the Great Commission Soccer Academy. Kit can be dropped into our donation bins, kindly housed at Intersport, Kings and Shibby Shack.
As Goal50 chairman, Nigel Pascoe says, “It is very noticeable that many youngsters grow out of sports kit very quickly, and we can easily find someone else who can make good use of it. I am very grateful for the support of Jacques Le Vallee who came up with the concept and now manages the project as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.”
Nigel continues, “Jacques is keen to help youngsters who live in difficult circumstances. He is very focused and determined to make a difference. This is a great quality for someone of his age.
We also appreciate the assistance of DHL who helped with the transportation of the kit. Recently, nine large boxes of kit were received in Cape Town, including the Norman Piette kit donated to Ark Drug Rehabilitation Centre.”
"This was just a Duke of Edinburgh project at first. Not any more!"
Jacques' view
Donating unwanted or unused sports kit is a great way for adults and children to support the townships in South Africa and also do their bit for local recycling. I’d love to keep this initiative rolling and involve all the children on the Island. To donate a pair of football boots and know they will go to a child that has perhaps never owned a pair is a powerful lesson for the future generation.
