Kit Xchange is an Goal50 programme that was the brain child of Jacques Le Vallée, a Guernsey student who was looking for a credible project that would help him gain his Duke 0f Edinburgh Award. The initiative takes unwanted and unused sports kit and equipment for Guernsey and the YK to sell or send to South Africa to support the soccer academy. Kit is dropped into donation bins and sports and other retail outlets. More recently, Kit Change has worked closely with Guernsey FC - a sixth tier non-league football team - in recycling team kit.

As Goal50 chairman, Nigel Pascoe says, “Youngsters grow out of sports kit very quickly, and we can easily find someone in the townships who can make good use of it. I am very grateful for the support of Jacques Le Vallee who came up with the concept and now manages the project with his mum Clara. Jacques is keen to help youngsters who live in difficult circumstances. He is determined to make a difference.”

Consignments of sports clothing are regularly sent. We are grateful to DHL for their kind assistance in delivering these to South Africa.

Jacques view “Donating unwanted or unused sports kit is a great way for adults and children to support the townships in South Africa and also do their bit for local recycling. I’d love to keep this initiative rolling and involve all the children on the Island. To donate a pair of football boots and know they will go to a child that has perhaps never owned a pair is a powerful lesson for future generations.”
